Every site has a logic of its own. On this Zilker lot, a 15-foot grade drop, heritage live oaks, and neighboring homes did the organizing work before a single line was drawn.

The grade became terraces. The oaks provided privacy and shade. The massing responded to its neighbors. Texas brick and wood grounded the modern form in its regional context.

A home rooted in its environment, and shaped by the people who call it home.

"Small houses should be subtractive, not additive." Architect Scott Specht designed his own tiny home around that philosophy, and the result speaks for itself.

Waking up to a framed view of the forest defines the experience of this primary bedroom. Expansive glass panels at the gable end blur the boundary between the warm interior and the surrounding woodland, letting the room become a quiet lens for the landscape beyond.

Sleek metal, warm wood, and polished concrete create a space that feels grounded without sacrificing comfort. The architecture follows the natural slope of the site, so the seasonal shifts of the forest always take center stage.

The Preston Hollow Residence redefines modern living in Dallas — a low-slung pavilion of board-formed concrete, floor-to-ceiling glass, and still water that mirrors the sky.

Designed to be lived in slowly.

The Mira Vista House in Fort Worth features a bold, cantilevered white stucco frame that appears to float above the rugged concrete base, creating a rhythmic play of light and shadow among the preserved canopy trees.
