🇺🇸 Veterans: Denied or Lowballed by the VA?

Don’t guess what went wrong.

READ YOUR VA RATING DECISION LETTER.

That letter tells you exactly why the VA denied your claim or why they gave you a lower rating than you expected.

Look for the missing piece:

No current diagnosis?

No nexus connecting your condition to military service?

Not enough medical evidence showing the severity of your symptoms?

Here’s the move:

If your evidence was already strong and you believe the VA made an error, consider filing a Higher-Level Review.

But if the decision letter exposes an evidence gap, FIX THE GAP FIRST.

Get the missing medical evidence from your private healthcare providers, then consider filing a Supplemental Claim with new and relevant evidence.

Too many veterans keep filing the same weak claim over and over and expecting a different result.

Don’t do that.

Understand WHY the VA said no.

Fix the evidence.

Then fight back the right way.

Veterans, if you’re stuck, frustrated, denied, or underrated—we’ve got your six.

VA Claims Insider helps veterans increase their VA disability rating faster, even if you’ve already been denied, lowballed, gave up, or don’t know where to start.

🛑 Avoid This MASSIVE VA C&P Exam Mistake!

Fellow Veterans—listen up.

The most common mistake I see at VA C&P exams is simple: minimizing your symptoms.

We were trained in the military to suck it up, push through the pain, and tell everybody, “I’m good.”

That mindset can hurt you a ton at a C&P exam and can sink your claim and VA rating percentage.

This is not the time to be a hero.

Tell the truth. Be specific. Explain how often your symptoms happen, how bad they get, how long they last, and exactly how they impact your work, relationships, sleep, and daily life.

Don’t exaggerate. Don’t minimize.

Tell the examiner what your condition is really like.

Because if you don’t explain it, they can’t document it.

Sleep Apnea Secondary to PTSD: SECRET Tip to Prove Service Connection!

Here’s the problem with trying to connect Sleep Apnea directly to PTSD:

The medical research linking the two conditions is weak at best with no large scale studies.

So instead of forcing a bad theory, build a better one.

🔥 SECRET VA CLAIM TIP: Use weight gain or obesity as the intermediate step between your service-connected PTSD and your Sleep Apnea.

Your medical theory could look like this:

PTSD → Weight Gain/Obesity → Sleep Apnea

And it can go even deeper.

If the medications you take for PTSD or another service-connected mental health condition contributed to weight gain, your theory could be:

PTSD → Mental Health Medications → Weight Gain/Obesity → Sleep Apnea

That matters because the medical connection between obesity and obstructive sleep apnea is much stronger than trying to prove PTSD directly caused your Sleep Apnea.

But here’s the key:

You need a qualified medical professional to explain the entire chain of causation or aggravation in a strong Nexus Letter.

Don’t just say:

“My PTSD caused my Sleep Apnea.”

Show the VA HOW and WHY the conditions are medically connected.

That’s the difference between making an argument and actually building the evidence to prove it.

🚨VA RATING INCREASE SECRET MOST VETERANS DON’T KNOW!

You may NOT need a C&P exam to get your VA rating increased.

If you’re filing for an increase and submit a complete, sufficient private Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) with your Fully Developed Claim, the VA may already have the medical evidence needed to make a rating decision—without ordering another unnecessary C&P exam.

That can mean a faster, more accurate path to a VA rating decision.

This strategy can be especially powerful for high-value claims such as:

âś… Mental Health
âś… Migraines
âś… Sleep Apnea
âś… Back & Joint Conditions
âś… 70+ other private publicly available DBQs

The key: Don’t just file the claim. File a winning claim with the right medical evidence.

A strong VA claim should clearly document:

➡️ Your current diagnosis
➡️ Your severity of symptoms
➡️ Your functional impairment
➡️ The evidence needed under the VA rating criteria

⚠️ Important: A private DBQ does not guarantee an approval or guarantee VA won’t order an exam. VA can still request a C&P exam if additional evidence is needed.

Are you avoiding filing for an increase because you're worried about losing your current rating?

You're not alone. It's one of the biggest fears veterans have. While filing for an increase can carry risks, strong medical evidence and documentation play a critical role in showing how your condition has worsened and protecting your claim.

Understanding the process before you file can make all the difference.
