Congratulations to our IDEA Montopolis College Prep music students for participating at the 2023 All-Region Solo & Ensemble Festival/ Competition sponsored by Austin Soundwaves!

We had 67 band and orchestra students participating (the highest number of students enrolled in the event)! 6 of our music students received the Outstanding Award! This is a huge accomplishment considering that one of them have been playing clarinet for 6 months 🤯🎵❗165 students participated from 15 schools total. Go bulldogs 🐶!

⭐UPCOMING MASTERCLASS⭐ On February 15th, our High School Band Students will have a masterclass with trombonist, composer, and educator Jorginho Neto! Jorginho performs with Brasil Jazz Sinfônica, one of the most important Latin American ensembles performing popular, folkloric, and urban Brazilian music today.

He has recorded five solo albums and performed in several music festivals in Brazil, the United States, Portugal, and London. His most recent project, "Inclusão" creates a voice for musicians from peripheric neighborhoods in Sao Paulo.

Congratulations to all Band and Orchestra students that participated at Austin Soundwaves All-Region Clinic and Showcase! We had the highest number of IDEA Montopolis Music students involved! A new record for our school! A big thanks to Huston-Tillotson University for hosting the event on their campus!

We are excited to have the great Paul Deemer today at our school. Deemer is the Adjunct Professor of Trombone at The University of Texas at Austin - Butler School of Music. He has performed with music superstars Jon Batiste and Gary Clark Jr. Paul Deemer has toured in over 7 different countries and recorded on over 50 albums.

Congratulations to all students acknowledged at the award ceremony last week! Go Bulldogs!

The IDEA Montopolis College Prep High School 🎺Band and 🎻Orchestra will perform during the 2022 Loteria Night!

Loteria Night is Mexican loteria is a wonderful, traditional card game similar to bingo. Loteria is also a form of folk art, as each of the colorful cards has an image of popular Mexican figures including "el catrin" (the gentleman), "la calavera" (the skeleton), "la chalupa" (the flower boat) , etc. Great fun for the entire family. Families are invited to come out for a night of fun, food, music, and prizes.
