Meet Fiona the Fish.
Last year, one of Kara Thomas's Elm Grove girls was having a great time building her “Save Fiona the Fish” project -- dropping in litter and pollutants -- until she realized Fiona couldn't survive in that water.
“That's when the real learning began,” Kara says. “She started brainstorming solutions on the spot, determined to clean up Fiona's home.”

Meet Kara Thomas, Campus Coordinator at Elm Grove Elementary in Hays CISD -- celebrating her 10th year with Girlstart this fall.
Kara brought Girlstart to her campus after watching her own daughter discover a love for hands-on science. A decade later, she's still watching new girls find that same spark.
