Austin MN High School Band

2017 AHS Band alumnus Arn Huizinga returned to the Paramount stage on Wednesday as a member of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division Band! It was quite a homecoming, as Arn was featured in a trombone trio, arranged a piece for the band, and conducted "Stars and Stripes Forever" at the end of the concert. Congrats Arn!

THANK YOU to the 90+ students who performed at Austin's Memorial Day on a day "off" from school, including 15 of the band seniors who came to perform AFTER their last day of school!

Don't miss the 2026 Band Blast, "A Night at the Oscars!" Each band will perform memorable music from famous movies, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Toy Story, Aladdin, Cars, The Incredibles, Up, The Phantom of the Opera, and more! The concert will recognize our 2026 band seniors, and will close with a thrilling finale celebrating America's 250th Birthday.

Jazz One had a great trip to the Winona Cotter Jazz Festival on April 18. We performed our music, had a clinic with Dean Sorenson and Aaron Lohmeyer, visited the Sugar Loaf bluff, didn't lose Henry, and listened to an incredible concert by the Explosion Big Band and guest Bijon Watson!

CONGRATS MYA!!!

We'd like to offer a huge congratulations to Austin High School's Mya Opsahl on her selection to the 2026-2027 MMEA Minnesota All-State Band. Mya completed a challenging audition in February, and was recently named to the All-State Symphonic Band after a rigorous judging process. She is the third Austin 10th grader in the past 10 years to earn a spot in All-State Band (Wayde Hall, Emma Stanley). Additionally, Mya is believed to be the first Austin student to successfully audition twice for the MBDA State 9-10 Honor Band (24-25 and 25-26) and the Minnesota All-State Band. She performed with the MBDA State 9-10 Honor Band on April 11, where she was the overall 2nd chair clarinet out of all 9th-10th graders in Minnesota. Great job Mya - way to go!

Last summer we got rained out from performing a sneak preview of our summer marching band music at Chateau Speedway. This summer we will try again on their Hall of Fame night!
