Applications for the Student Professional Development Fund are open for the 2026–2027 academic year for UT undergraduate and graduate students.

Recent recipients have worked with the National Democratic Institute, the Department of Justice, the U.S. House of Representatives, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Cambridge Security Initiative.

One of the most consequential military technologies in American history wasn't a weapon. It was the smallpox inoculation.

That's the kind of thinking behind our new Defense Technology Fellows Program, where history comes first and technology follows. This fall, 15 STEM undergraduates begin a yearlong fellowship led by Professor of Practice Dirk Ringgenberg and retired Maj. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, connecting their fields to national security through Austin's defense tech ecosystem.
