We are amazed at Elle Bates ’25 and her incredible work as part of an engineering team at The University of Texas at Austin!
Elle’s team’s project, HeartSense, was selected as one of 20 teams from around the world to compete in a NASA challenge. Their innovative wearable device helps monitor astronauts’ heart health by tracking heartbeat activity in real time.
The team earned 3rd place, the People’s Choice Award, and an Integration Award! 🌎🚀
Congratulations, Elle! We are so proud to see Regents alumni using their talents to innovate and make an impact!

Today marked the inaugural Regents Alumni basketball game. The older squad, comprised of alumni from 2008-2018, took on the newer talent from 2019 and beyond. Salim Hijjar (‘11) and Cooper Smith (‘18) set the tone early, helping their team build a lead that would prove unshakeable. Despite a fierce comeback attempt led by Andrew White (‘23) and Hudson Powell (‘24), the older team held strong. Garrett Gamble (‘14) hit clutch 3’s and McCade Rice (‘14) wrapped up the win with an impressive 4th quarter performance. Final score: 54-46.
