Two years ago today, we had the honor of publishing GRIEF IS A SNEAKY BITCH by Lisa Keefauver, an essential and uncensored guide to grief and loss.
Lisa is determined to challenge a grief-illiterate world. Drawing from her own experience as a widow and her professional background as a social worker, she saw firsthand how rigid "five stages" checklists fail people dealing with loss. Her work offers a time for reflection, encouraging self-compassion and the therapeutic power of humor with, yes, a bit of profanity.
We are incredibly proud to have this book on our list as a vital companion for anyone navigating the messiness of loss. Happy two-year pub anniversary to GRIEF IS A SNEAKY BITCH and Lisa Keefauver!

We’re thrilled to share that Tim Seiter’s WRANGLING PELICANS has been named the 2026 Nonfiction Winner of the Summerlee Book Prize, awarded by The Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast at Lamar University!
This marks another fantastic award for the book, which reviewers are calling “refreshing,” “deft,” and “informative and engaging.” WRANGLING PELICANS uncovers the world of eighteenth-century Spanish soldiers stationed at Presidio La Bahía on the Texas Gulf Coast, revealing the realities of frontier life through stories of warfare, diplomacy, courtship, resistance, and survival at the edge of empire.
Congratulations to Tim Seiter on this latest, well-deserved recognition for his incredible work!

REVIVING THE ARTIST WHO FOUGHT HI**ER by Irvin Ungar is available now!
In this richly illustrated and deeply researched memoir, Ungar recounts his decades-long journey to restore World War II’s leading anti-Nazi artist, Arthur Szyk, to his rightful place in public consciousness.
Once world-famous for political caricatures that reportedly earned him a bounty from Adolf Hi**er, Szyk used his art to fight for human rights—from protesting the Holocaust and American segregation to illustrating a masterpiece Passover Haggadah. Drawing on his years as the principal scholar of Szyk’s work, Ungar offers an inspiring story of artistic passion, forgotten history, and a heroic advocate for justice.

SCULPTING QUITO is available now! In this richly researched study, Leslie E. Todd examines the role of domestic religious sculpture in eighteenth-century Quito, where polychrome devotional figures transcended churches and were integrated into everyday life. Drawing on archival sources including wills and dowries, Todd reveals how these objects shaped a distinctly Quitenian visual culture across class and social boundaries, at once reinforcing and complicating the colonial order.
