Gold medal wrestler Steveson signing with Bills Gable Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist and one of the most dominant college wrestlers in NCAA history, is jumping to the NFL to sign with the Buffalo Bills, his agent Carter Chow told ESPN.

Anderson Salisbury (class of 2017) ended his college career with a win in the 7th place match earning him All American honors for the second straight year at the NCAA DII National Championships!
Wrestling for the Chaps, Anderson was a 3x state qualifier and 2x state placer.

We return to the Chap Court for the Chaps Wrestling 2022 Banquet. Wrestlers and supporters received much-deserved kudos for a great season, and we said good-bye to the consistently excellent scorer Dee Fly with a plaque to thank her for 24 years of dedication to this team.

State 2022 is in the books! Jackson, Jacob and Bela each wrestled two matches and came away with experience and determination for next season. Jocelyn won her first two matches by pin, lost to the eventual (and 2021) #1 in the semifinals by decision, and placed #4 in her final Varsity tournament. The big buzz of the awards ceremony was the induction of Olympic Gold Medalist (and Texas State Girls Wrestling Champ) Tamyra Mensah-Stock to the TX Wrestling Hall of Fame! Mensah-Stock graciously met and posed for pics with her fans. It’s a great day to be a Chap!

That’s a wrap on 2022 Region IV! Westlake Wrestling will send FOUR athletes to the 6A State Tournament next week. For the first time EVER two girls will represent WHS at State: Jocelyn (110 Champion) and Bela (119 4th). For the first time since 2018, two boys will rep the Chaps at State: Jackson (132 Champ) and Jacob (126 Bronze).

Districts this year started at 1030am and ended just before midnight, combining 5A+6A Varsity Boys+Girls in one long day. Westlake Boys team finished 6th and Girls finished 5th. We have two district champs from each team, with Jackson earning his first district Gold and Jocelyn finishing her senior year as a 4X champion. Bela, Jacob, Nick and Callleigh also medaled and qualified for Region! Jonathan, Quentin, Oliver and Grady are 5th place alternates. Go Chaps!
