Let’s get into it for a deeper understanding of how it informs Allyship or critique in the Black U.S. context.

It was my humble honor to serve as the opening keynote speaker at the 6TH ANNUAL 101 WOMEN IN BUSINESS CONFERENCE in Baton Rouge, LA, with the theme “Built to Last: Leading with Integrity, Positioning for Growth.” The conveners, speakers, and facilitators created a dynamic space of innovation, encouragement, and inspiration. Thank you for entrusting me as the Founder of Rootz and Wingz, LLC., with the charge of speaking about, “Ethics as a Strategy: Why Integrity Is a Competitive Advantage.” Good business and meaningful impact should be anchored in a guiding philosophy of principled integrity. I was encouraged by the business leaders present who aim to model that philosophy in action!

The Reviews are in 📰🗣️ “In the long-running debate over ‘The Eyes of Texas,’ Martínez’s book stands as one of the most detailed historical examinations yet produced—one that insists that traditions, like history itself, deserve to be understood in full rather than remembered selectively.”- Big Bend Times (March 10, 2026). Yesterday, several folks from across Texas convened at the Carver Library Branch in Austin,Texas to hear a dynamic lecture from historian Dr. Martinez that ended with a powerful reflection circle of dialogue. Using archived photographs, excerpts from original recordings, and primary source materials, including first-person accounts from the song writers and students who engaged in minstrelsy celebrations at UT Austin in the 20th Century themselves, the historical truth about this song’s origin story COULD NOT BE WHITEWASHED. It’s precise examination insisted that the truth be told now, and Dr. Martinez did just that!
