Our students got to step into the shoes of real archaeologists!
They learned what archaeologists do and how they live and work in the field, then got hands-on right away. First, they worked to rebuild a vessel piece by piece, then mapped out our very own "Playground Archaeological Site," and finally got to dig, carefully registering their findings just like real archaeologists do.
Watching them take this so seriously, documenting every discovery with precision and excitement, was something else. This is the kind of learning that sticks with you!

The chicks have hatched!
For the past few weeks, our CE1 students have been caring for eggs, watching them closely, and learning about the hatching process. Last week, their patience paid off, they got to witness baby chicks breaking out of their shells and coming to life right before their eyes!
This project started 9 years ago when Ms. Cindy was teaching GS. She loved it so much that when she moved to CE1, she brought it with her to share with her colleagues Ms. Alison, Ms. Mรณnica, and Ms. Louise. Now it's a CE1 tradition that students look forward to every year.
The excitement, the wonder, the gasps when those first cracks appeared, this is hands-on learning at its absolute best. Our students didn't just read about life cycles; they experienced it.
And next week? The students will bring the chicks to Crowe's Nest Farm, their new home, as part of their upcoming field trip. The perfect ending to this incredible journey!

Field trips at AIS are where learning comes alive! Throughout the year, our students explore museums, parks, and cultural sites across Austin that connect directly to what they're studying in class.
Recently, our MS students (PreK-4) wrapped up their study of dinosaurs with a trip to the Dinosaur Park - Bastrop, Texas. After weeks of learning about prehistoric life, they got to see fossils, explore life-sized replicas, and bring everything they'd studied to life. The excitement on their faces said it all!

Our 8th graders are putting on a show next week!
"Inside My Mind" is their final project, a trilingual performance in English, French, and Spanish. They've poured so much creativity and heart into this, it's going to be special.
This is what they've been working toward all year, and now they get to share it with our community. If you've ever wondered what it looks like when students bring together everything they've learned at AIS, this is it.

Our FUNd Run last Friday was a HUGE success! ๐
We set a goal of $25,000, and our incredible community didn't just meet it, we exceeded it! Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $29,000!
Our students had an amazing day. They ran, they cheered each other on, and they had so much fun doing it. Watching them participate with such enthusiasm and school spirit was a highlight for everyone.
Here's what this means: thanks to all of our generous donors, we'll be able to build our new drop-off/dismissal canopy, a project that will make daily routines safer and more comfortable for our entire community. This has been a goal for a while, and now we can make it happen!
A huge thank you to:
- All the families who donated and supported their runners
- The vendors who came out and made the day even more special as part of the PTO End Of Year Picnic
- Everyone who volunteered, cheered, and showed up
This is what our AIS community does best: coming together to support our school and our students.
Thank you for making this possible!

Meet Mahรฉ, our Junior Head of School for the day! And in her words? "This is my lucky day!" ๐
She followed Ms. Ariane all over campus today, from morning rounds to meetings, greeting students and teachers, and learning what it really takes to run AIS. The best part? She loved every second of it.
From asking great questions to bringing her own ideas to the table, Mahรฉ showed us what student leadership looks like. What a day!
Thanks for being such an awesome Junior Head of School, Mahรฉ! You rocked it!

Our Middle Schoolers shared the soccer field with our Grande Section students last week, and it was such a special moment to witness!
Watching our big kids and little ones play together, pass the ball, and genuinely enjoy sharing the field reminded us why cross-age interactions matter so much. The middle schoolers were patient and encouraging, and our GS students were thrilled to be playing alongside the "big kids."
These are the moments that build our community, when students from different ages connect, learn from each other, and just have fun together.
