Artist of the Week: Senior LaNya Wright 🖤

The motion, the blur, the stillness in the middle… it’s powerful. It’s real. It’s honest.

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our student, Ja’Corian Helen.
He was a valued part of our Maverick family and will be deeply missed.

Yesterday, our students stood in a space where decisions are made—and made sure their voices were heard.

At the Travis County Commissioners Court, during public comment, they shared real stories, lived experiences, and the impact of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on their lives and families.

And they did it with courage most adults never have to find.



Names that deserve to be remembered—not just for speaking, but for standing.

This wasn’t just a field trip.
This was advocacy.
This was their truth.
This was bravery in its purest form.
