What sayings do you have where you’re from?

Popular sayings are fun… oftentimes they make absolutely no sense... till they do. We think that this Venezuelan proverb is a good example of that.

The story behind it is that goats are very skilled at going forward on narrow hillside paths, but if they start moving backwards they often fall.

This saying is often used by locals when playing dominoes, and someone is about to make their move (or place their piece) and changes their mind at the last minute.

But upon further inspection, this saying turns out to be quite profound. It can be used to encourage someone to have faith and believe in the decision they’ve made, instead of being regretful and fearful about it.
