Established in 1967, Martin Middle School serves students and families on Austin’s Eastside as part of the Eastside Memorial High School Vertical Team. Martin Junior High (now Martin Middle School) was opened to replace University Junior High. Named for Sam Martin, who was Austin ISD’s vocational coordinator and director of the nationally recognized Evening School Program, Martin was Austin ISD’s

first fully integrated school, serving Anglo, African-American, and Hispanic students. Martin has a rich history and diverse array of proud alumni. The school colors are blue and gold. Our social media goal is to facilitate and participate in the online conversation about Martin Middle School. We strive to include anyone in the conversation who would like to be a part of it. We are excited our Innovation Academy at Martin Middle School is in re-development! This re-development for the '23-'24 school year consisted of STEAM learning experiences and data gathering from Martin stakeholders to contribute to the re-development. In '24-'25 school year Innovation Academy will consist of increased STEAM learning experiences and a specialized advisory curriculum for students to opt-in. Program details and the application process will also be shared. In '25-'26, our Innovation Academy will be operational with continued STEAM learning experiences, exposure to STEAM community partnerships, and course pathways.
