How to catch a Monkey: Put a Banana in a cage box consisting only of bars. The Monkey puts his hand in the cage to take the Banana.
Monkey catcher snatches the monkey.
The Monkey is only Caught because *he won't let go of the Banana*
We all have "Bananas" that keep us trapped.
Lesson: Aparigraha (Non-Possessiveness)
- Letting Go
Asana: Bird of Paradise.
- A reminder to the self too fly away from the confines of attachment
and -TO LET GO OF THE FRICKEN BANANA!-
Mantra: "No Bananas"

"Be Sweet to Your Self".
Ahimsa - The Yama of Non Harming. To Have compassion and more importantly to -not- be or hold Violence .This Lesson of Yoga extends beyond how we treat others. It must also be closely observed in how we treat our selves. When we Practice Yoga Asana this looks like finding that softening breath where you begin allowing the body to unfold in its own time without forcing it to bend to the will of harsh expectation cultivated by the mind.Which often actually leads to unintentional abuse of the beautiful body your in, rather than a nurturing acceptance of how your body feels safe expressing itself -Now-.
In Walking life Ahmisa looks like breaking the habit of engaging in negative self talk which can become abusive and harmful to the Heart Space and even get in the way of living out positive intentions. One way I can offer you, to help you practice Ahimsa is to encourage you to lean more towards embracing with loving intent what is already created within you, and lovingly practice embracing this sweet creation that is .You. for what it already is, rather than pushing yourself to re create a work of art that is already a masterpiece. In this way You can Lovingly gain more and move forward in a way that is natural and truly fulfilling.Like a vine climbing comfortably towards the warmth of the sun.Slow, and Sweet. Complete and Whole. Blessings.

Happy and Blessed New Year to all of You!
The words I am going to offer up as we enter this next cycle are -Fearlessness
-Love-Courage
and -Forward Momentum-

This past year has been one of courage, gaining momentum, and healing for me, and as I have read in many of your emails, it seems to have been for you as well!

I would like to Thank you for your Courage as you open up and face your vulnerable path!

One of the most liberating points of this past year for me was the happening pictured below.

I stood in front of a sharpened arrow and pressed my throat against it.

The point was for the person to take a stance of strength, take a deep breath and fearlessly press the throat against the arrow and break it in half against a piece of wood .

The only way this is possible is to step inside your self and your stance with present ness, feel your self grounded and strong, and hold yourself in both a forward momentum of the psyche as well as physical and mental strength.

This creates a focus and a physical surge of energy that rolls through you and into the arrow, breaking it in half!

I am able to tell you this because I did it. I broke this arrow with my throat. Because I experienced fearless ness and thus an internal energetic strength that manifested itself physically.

When we take a breath and feel the center of the self. Stifling the voice of the mind talking back, and embrace a deep trust around the body and mind we are capable of overcoming any wave of emotion, including fear. The breath, the stance, and the trust trigger an immense and powerful centering that breaks through the inertia of fear and armors you with an aura of unimaginable force that can pe*****te ( and break) any physical or mental obstacle that may be in your way.

As we Move in this next cycle let us be reminded that we are in a time of awakening. Seekers, healers, light workers, empaths etc. are awakening to their path.

You are a warrior.

So be fearless, stand in Love, feel your courage ignite and feel the forward momentum that comes as a side effect.

Sharing the Practice honestly.
The ugly truth has beautiful lessons.

Being human,Ive been stressing over some heavy things lately. So, I decided to go have a talk with a good friend Last Night.

After I poured a glass of wine and went 5 million miles a second explaining all my troubles,he simply looked me in the eyes and asked

"But,Have you made time to Slow Down lately?".

Ofcource the answer was "No".
And I was puzzled by this reality.

I realized that I hadn't practiced a drop of Yoga for an entire week, and even more,Ive been practicing far less than usual over the past few months.I realized I had instead began stifling up my stresses by drinking and spending a lot of late nights out with my friends.

It really hit me that I had been running from my problems and avoiding my practice because I was letting the "Fear" of feeling emotional pain win.
I didn't want to face some crippling truths about recent events.

I began to examine my body. And realized that I was physically really hurting. My mucsles tight, and achy.I was exhausted. And my heart filled with heavy regrets and a sorrow that had been creeping up for a long while. And more importantly I was not respecting nor Loving Myself.

Being a Yoga Instructor,Its important for me to walk the walk. And I realized I hadn't been.

So Today.I decided enough is enough.Time to get Humble to the Real Real.

My point is, sometimes we fall off the wagon. And fear can be a beezy of a thing. It is so easy to get Lost.To give up.To tune out.To hide. And it doesnt make you an awful person for doing so.Its normal and essential to growth.

But the most important thing to remember,is that

☆☆You Can ALWAYS come back.☆☆

And when you do you feel the Magic all over again.
Yoga isn't a linear journey. It has all kinds of loops, stops, breaks, and Spirals. And Always always has a beggining.

Anywhoo. My intention today is to Stay Humble to the Struggle.

Lets all just keep it real.No Frill.Send me a message and let me know where your at on your journey!I love hearing from you :).

To the highest good.Lets lift each other up!

Word Medicine.
The poem that shaped this Mornings Hatha Flow class ♡ as well as my personal perception and life practice this last week or so.♡Mantra Poetry♡
Kindness:By Naomi Shihab Nye

“Before you know what kindness really is

you must lose things,

feel the future dissolve in a moment

like salt in a weakened broth.

What you held in your hand,

what you counted and carefully saved,

all this must go so you know

how desolate the landscape can be

between the regions of kindness.”

Yoga is a practice of non-violence, of love. We start by learning kindness towards ourselves. We learn to take all our sorrows and our hurt and wrap them in the blanket of our own self-love. And then we learn to be compassionate, we take that blanket of love and drape it across the world.

I was reading an article about the construction of temples this afternoon.A string of words crossed my eyes."Light,Gods eldest daughter,is a principal beauty in a building".It made me think of how our bodies,as constructed temples hold this same light. And how interesting it is that through our creative endevours we can,in essence re construct this inner light into other tangible constructs.Such as paintings, poetry, movement, music etc.I just want to point out,how absolutely incredible it is that we give metaphoric birth to our own constructs of energy and light. We are truly manifestors.I would never push a specific belief on anybody, but does this not,in essence mean that we are the creators, the givers of light?God?Life is so precious and we are truly magical beings.♡ Create ♡

A big part of my practice is to say "To hell with Self shaming for not being perfect"
To keep a fire lit,you must kindle the flames. The Agni, the burning places of desire. These are not to be ignored or set aside.
A big concept I've been dabbling with lately is allowing myself to be human. To go against the grain and enjoy this life with no Shame. To live a life through Yoga does not mean that you have to be an object of perfection.More so, you absolutely must embrace what is imperfect and play in it.Work it out.Meet it with the playfullness and joy of a child who does not yet know how to walk but wobbles about , knowing to giggle when the fall comes.Without this Playfullness we rob ourselves of what it is to be Human. To live without Shame is a way to kindle the Fire .So don't be so hard on yourself because you,as a human Being,do things that are labeled "bad" (like having a beer or indulging in a pleasure you enjoy).Rather see these things as an experience that are necessary for your path. The playfull and explorative side of you. Sthira and Suckha.Steadiness and ease.A softness to balance the Ridgid.♡
