Join us for week 2 of Los Amiguitos summer camp!
We’ve expanded our openings the week of June 22-26, and have just a few more open spots!
🎨 Make art with us, care for and explore our organic school garden (we have so many delicious fruits and vegetables ripening right now!) 🍉🍅, cool off while we water the garden and each other 💦, explore our forested area, and hug a tree with new and old friends. 👩🏽🌾🌳

Nuestro huerto escolar! 🏡
Our school garden has loved this rainy spring we’ve had, and Amiguitos have loved finding new veggies ready to eat all the time. We have green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, and basil all ready to eat now! And more on the way ripening up. 🧑🏼🌾🍅

🐥¡Pollitos! 🐣
Our first group of chicks has grown so much these past few weeks! Amiguitos provide great care for them, note their growth and check their health, and write about them.
Not only are they gaining an understanding of and empathy for these adorable little creatures, but they’ve gotten to observe and document their entire lifecycle as well. From embryos at different stages of growth to tiny newborn babies, and now walking and flying chicks, we’ve gotten to see it all! 🥚🐣

🐝 ¡Mariposas, abejas, colibríes y más! 🦋
We learned about the butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators that visit our school garden and are enjoying the wildflowers we planted. 🌼🌸
Amiguitos know the roles of the pollinators in helping our ecosystem, act out the pollination process, and draw and write about it as well. 🎨📝

¡Conoce a nuestra “Guardiana de Basura,” Salsa!
Meet our Trash Guardian, Salsa!
Amiguitos worked together to create a “Trash Guardian” for our school, naming it “Salsa.” We’re working on zero waste at school and learning the impacts our trash has on our school ecosystem. Our trash guardian is now here to remind us to reduce our trash use, and to make sure and pick up any that we see to make sure it doesn’t get swept by the wind into our little creek behind school.

☔️💧A rainy day is a day to celebrate over here! For both our students and our garden alike!
We’ve been observing so much new growth in our garden thanks to all of this rain lately, and Amiguitos were so excited to notice our “hongos” (mushrooms) sprouting up unexpectedly. 🍄🟫🍄🟫
Thanks for your mushroom block contributions - our soil is thriving and our plants and kiddos are happy! 🏡👩🏽🌾

🥥🍊🫒From drinking coconut water straight from the source, enjoying oranges, olives, and our own mini olive trees, Amiguitos’ tree presentations have been both informative and fun!
It’s been so empowering for kids to share their knowledge, and we’ve loved having parents and even grandparents join in the presentations! We’ve learned about different ecosystems, regions, cultures, languages, and much more! 🌴🌳

🌸🌻The signs of spring are all around!
Amiguotos explored and noted what they found, including caterpillars, cocoons, and more in our garden soil, and are working hard to get our garden ready for spring planting! 🐛🐞
