Here's some background on our 45th Year Reunion venue.
On November 28, 2011, Alan Grimsley trembled outside of what used to be his burger restaurant. After a year of hard work and dedication, he watched his beloved Starburger Restaurant in Liberty Hill burn to the ground. One month later, on the verge of financial ruin, Alan placed a single ad in the business section of Craigslist, searching for an investor interested in opening a new burger joint. The next morning Alan had several emails in his inbox, but one in particular stood out. The email was from Georgetown resident and real estate investor, Rob May. Rob explained that he owned the century-old “Lockett Building” on the beautiful square in Georgetown and that he always wanted to turn it into a burger joint. It did not take long for the two men to realize that they shared the same vision and within a month after their introduction, Burger University was born. Burger University was created with all of the values each man felt were vital to the community – Alan’s vision for super fresh hand-made food paired with Rob’s desire to have a family-oriented and fun environment. The character and charm of the “Lockett Building” were apparent and proved to be an ideal match for Burger University’s traditional style. The result is a perfect blend of excellent food and a magnificent atmosphere. With this in mind, the three pillars of Burger University were formed: quality, excellence and service. Burger University is committed to ensuring every meal is prepared with the freshest ingredients (quality), that our food and environment are superior (excellence), and that each customer considers themselves a graduate with highest honors at this alma mater (service).

History of our High School Building:
Built in 1923-1924 on the original site of Southwestern University, the main building served as Georgetown High School for over fifty years. A historical marker on the site notes: "Designed by Austin architect Charles H. Page and exhibiting influences of the Spanish colonial revival style of architecture, the building features a baroque entryway with cast stone detailing that includes motifs of shells, flowers, urns, and garlands." The first graduating class planted all of the landscaping. The gymnasium and cafeteria were added in the 1940s, and the music building was added in the 1960s.
After the new high school building was opened, the Williams Elementary site served as Georgetown Junior High, then as an elementary school until 1999. From 1999 until renovations began last year, the building also housed the Safe Schools project and other community groups.
An extensive renovation project that included the addition of a new wing was completed in the summer of 2002, and Williams Elementary reopened in the fall of 2002.
