Language learning should go hand-in-hand with content. The report indicates better outcomes when "teachers consistently support and incorporate English learners into classroom activities."
STEM Outcomes for English Language Learners Fail to Meet Expectations -- THE Journal A new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine takes a comprehensive look at the state of English learners in STEM education and provides recommendations on ways to improve outcomes.

Our ELL teachers are not the source of these issues. The report states "Amid an ELL teacher shortage, states projected needing an additional 76,000 certified or licensed teachers to work with English-learners over the next five years."
What does this say about the burden our ELL teachers carry today? They should be commended for their courageous efforts.
Most States Failing to Meet English-Learner Academic Targets, Report Finds Over the past decade, English-learner enrollment in K-12 schools has increased by more than 100 percent in 11 states. While the number of ELL students is on the rise, the quality of education those students receive may not be keeping pace.
