Leadership in science creates opportunities that extend far beyond the lab.
We're proud to share that Karen M. Vasquez, Professor and Division Head of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Jaime N. Delgado Endowed Chair, has helped lead the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EMGS) in joining Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology as an affiliate member.
As president of EMGS, Dr. Vasquez has played an important role in this milestone, strengthening opportunities for scientific collaboration and advocacy across the biomedical research community.

We're to celebrate Alexcia Carr, Pharm.D., a standout graduate student in the Division of Health Outcomes, who has been selected as a Summer 2026 Graduate Archer Fellow through The Archer Center.
This summer, Alexcia will head to Washington, D.C. for an internship with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America), as part of a cohort of UT System changemakers working across health policy, research, government and public service.
Alexcia's work reflects a deep commitment to improving health outcomes and medication access for underserved populations, building on her leadership in student organizations and her research in pharmacist well-being, telehealth and care for people experiencing homelessness. We can't wait to see the impact she'll make this summer and beyond.
