This past spring, we graduated a dozen seniors.
Between them, they netted 55 offers of admission to competitive 4-year college and university programs -
plus over $2 million(!) in scholarships.
Data from the National Association of Independent Schools confirms that private-school graduates are significantly more likely to attend 4-year college, especially at the most prestigious institutions.
I'd say our students' accomplishments certainly line up with that!
Your student deserves the best - the best education, the best personal support, the best community, and the best chance to succeed in college and accomplish great things in life.
You won't settle for anything less. Consider applying to Huntington-Surrey - we practice rolling admissions and welcome transfers at all four grade levels.

We're just about a month into Fall '25.
Is your teen happy in public school?
Do they feel known and accepted by their teachers and their entire community - for who they genuinely are, not just as another name in the headcount?
Do they feel supported, nourished, and empowered to pursue their own unique individuality, regardless of anybody else's agenda?
Is their school in their corner? Does it know them well enough, as an individual, to be *able* to be in their corner?
Why not look into a school where you don't have to hesitate before answering Yes?
Huntington-Surrey is not like other schools. Huntington-Surrey is person-centered by design and treats individuality as a gift to be celebrated and nourished, not a problem to be solved or accommodated.
We're accepting transfers for grades 9-12. Get in touch. We'll gladly take your call and listen.

Once again, Huntington-Surrey is ahead of the curve.
Our approach to tech in the classroom is neither reactive nor naive. We make a point of integrating appropriate technology and supporting our teachers in developing their ed-tech skills - in the hands of a talented, focused teacher, these are resources that help our students learn smarter and more confidently.
At the same time, for years now we've required our students to turn in their personal cell phones at the beginning of the day. Far from being punitive, this frees and empowers our students to focus on their work and on their face-to-face peers. They don't have to worry that someone's going to be filming them or posting on social media in the classroom. What a relief!

On Fridays we do clubs 😊
We prioritize a small, supportive, person-oriented community and culture. However, that doesn't mean we're all classwork and no extracurriculars! Each semester, our students drive the range of clubs we offer.

Liberal arts is more than just facts. It's a generational endeavor to seek truth and goodness. Will you let it change your life?
Everybody should be able to take part in the tradition - no matter who you are or what your background. This is for you.
Will you enter through the open gate...?

We are back from Labor Day Weekend and feeling pretty pumped!
Check out this pic from Convocation a couple of weeks ago! It's one of our most treasured solemnities - each new student commits personally to the honor code, adopting the high personal and academic standards that undergird our scholastic community.
Having a code is what makes the difference - in school and life alike.

Once again, Huntington-Surrey is ahead of the game! For years now, we've had our students check their phones in at the front office in the morning to empower them to focus on their classwork and face-to-face social connections.
Of course, this allows for phone access when it's actually needed - something that depends on our intimate, small-school environment.
And, crucially, we understand that it's not enough to create a classroom free from phone-based distraction - individualized mentoring and small-group pedagogy provide our students with the intellectual support they need to truly flourish.
More students head back to class without one crucial thing: their phones
This back to school season, more districts than ever have cell phone bans in place. Teachers and legislators alike say the restrictions help kids focus in class.

That's the first week of school knocked out and the second one underway!
Personally, I love the feeling once that first week is done - after getting all the preliminary details out of the way, classes get to really start hitting their stride. The first week sets the table - the second starts bringing out the feast!
What about you? What prickles your enthusiasm for learning?
