Bellingham Veteran Friends and Families! On June 1st and 2nd I will be offering another LifeSong Songwriting Workshop especially for veterans through Allied Arts Of Whatcom County. We will engage in a variety of fun, creative and introspective activities that will invite you to tap into profound memories and experiences that may be translated into songs. Lyric and melody have the power to deepen our self awareness so that we might share our life's journey with our loved ones, our communities and the world at large. The tradition of story telling and song making is healing and helps us to recognize ourselves as heroes of our own journey as well as an important piece of a collective whole. I hope you will consider joining us on a songwriting adventure. There are no musical skills or songwriting experience required. It's happening!! Only three spots left! This summer I will be offering a very small Young Songwriter Summer Camp intensive at my very own studio in Bellingham July 18 - 21. We will focus on the craft of songwriting and will fire up our creativity through many activities such as theater games, nature and urban explorations, journalling, co-writing and more. We will then record all of our creations and celebrate with a backyard concert and album release celebration. Open to a variety of ages and skill levels so PM me to learn more! And spread the word!! Other locations include Whidbey Island July 11 - 14 (waiting list only) and August 5 - 8. Vashon Island July 8 - 11.

Oh my... at the beginning of camp we write a really silly song. It makes no sense and is usually pretty catchy. Also, as a rule we don't practice for our performance. Here's our wacky weird song from the Vashon Center for the Arts end of camp performance!

Whidbey Island and Vashon Island Songwriting Camps were a great success!! Looking forward to returning to Whidbey Island July 12 - 15 and Bellingham July 19 - 22!!

I can’t believe it’s been seven years since my first Young Songwriter Summer Camp Season. Monday I’m off to Whidbey to kick off season 2021. There is still a spot left in the Bellingham camp at Chuckanut Center July 19-22 as well as one full scholarship!

This just in! This summer I’ll be offering songwriting programs to Northwest Youth Services in addition to my Young Songwriter Summer Camps. Over the years I’ve observed that songwriting not only bolsters self esteem and awareness but also empathy and a greater sense of connectedness between the self and the world at large. These are important qualities for everyone but especially for youth who are experiencing homelessness, poverty and trauma in their every day lives.

I'm keeping this year's Bellingham Young Songwriter Summer Camps limited to only five participants. The July one is full so I have added another August 2 - 5. There are three spots available including one full scholarship. I can't tell you how much joy this program brings to me and everyone who has ever attended. We write songs, build confidence, empathy and appreciation for the unique artist inside of everyone. We also make a full length recording.
