Throughout fall 2026, we are offering online and in-person professional development programs for Texas social studies and English language arts teachers.

In-person workshops include "Teaching the Texas Revolution" in Houston (October 7), "Teaching Hamlet" in Houston (October 8 ), "Teaching Short Fiction" in Austin (October 15), "Teaching the Cold War" in Dallas (October 21), and "Teaching the Early American Republic" in San Antonio (October 27).

Webinars include "Ethical Implications of AI in the Humanities Classroom" (September 21), "Interdisciplinary Approaches to Teaching the Declaration of Independence" (September 28), "Teaching Great Expectations" (October 20), and "Digital Timeline Tools in the Humanities Classroom" (November 4).

The Texas Archive of the Moving Image is now accepting applications for its 2026–27 Education Fellowship!

The selected Fellow will collaborate with TAMI's team to create new classroom resources using videos from TexasArchive.org, gaining hands-on experience in archives, media, and digital engagement.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the screening of “Armadillo Man: The Trips of Jim Franklin”!

We enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating Austin's music and poster art history, featuring artist Jim Franklin, Leea Mechling, Joe Nick Patoski, moderator Jason Mellard, and all who attended. Thank you as well to our partners and supporters who helped make the program possible.

We were also excited to share a preview of our forthcoming traveling exhibition, “Homegrown: Austin Music Posters, 1967–1982.” Stay tuned for more information in the months ahead!

Join Humanities Texas for a FREE screening of "Armadillo Man: The Trips of Jim Franklin"! 🎥

The documentary will be followed by a panel discussion featuring poster artist Jim Franklin, Leea Mechling (Austin Museum of Pop Culture), and Joe Nick Patoski (writer and Texas music historian), moderated by Jason Mellard (Texas State University).

Guests are invited to stay for a reception with light bites and beverages provided by St. Elmo Brewing.

Attendees will enjoy a preview of Humanities Texas's forthcoming traveling exhibition "Homegrown: Austin Music Posters, 1967–1982," adapted from the exhibition of the same name developed by The Wittliff Collections.

Introducing “Of Birds and Texas: The Gentling Brothers and Their Magnificent Book,” a new traveling exhibition presented in partnership with The Bryan Museum - Galveston!

“Of Birds and Texas” explores the lives and work of Fort Worth artists Stuart and Scott Gentling through forty framed lithographs from their acclaimed 1986 elephant folio of the same name. Paired with freestanding interpretive panels, the exhibition offers a fresh look at two of Texas's most fascinating artists while celebrating the distinct landscapes and vibrant avian diversity of the Lone Star State.
