Of course I like to highlight the perfect moments in our piano classes but today I wanted to share an ensemble that started out a little rough! Even though I had cued them in, it still sounded like we had double the number of pianists because everyone started at a different time. But after about a measure or two, they found the beat! And the rest of the ensemble was pretty good.

Ensemble playing makes rhythm relevant!! If you don’t count, you drag the rest of the group down. And nobody wants to be THAT person! 😂

Week Two is in the books! All of my classes continued to work as teams as they learn to play as an ensemble. We also had fun with our theory whiteboards, learning how to draw treble and bass clefs, and learning how to spell triads and stack chords.

Congratulations to Ajai B., who landed a 2nd place finish in the for Level 2B!!

Five of the 12 major scales were selected at random for this competition: A major, C major, C # major, E major, and G major scales. Ajai memorized each one and played them as one octave scales, hands together.
