I never imagined that I'd meet such inspiring people when I first created the Guide. To be completely honest, I didn't even think there would be very much interest!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, as it turns out... some really incredible people love the process of editing photos as much as I do. Angela is one of those amazing Guide members inside our community!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Witnessing her transition to editing *in the middle of a pandemic* was truly inspiring! She was determined and made it happen!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We've had many others in the Guide start the program this summer/fall that are now working with their first clients — YES, in the middle of this crazy year! 😱 Talk about motivation!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Cheers to you Angela, I think 2021 is going to bring some pretty great things your way!

I took this week off from editing because we are headed back to our hometown for a wedding.⁣

Taking off from editing didn’t hinder any editing income because I was able to work with my clients on preparing for my time off! With a little extra editing split up before and after my vacation time it was easy taking this time away. ✨💯⁣

This was one of the reasons why I love working so closely with one-on-one editing clients. They not only appreciate how I help their business grow but they understand that I am a solo-run business that needs time off like anyone else! 😄⁣

What other reasons do you love about having your own service based business online?

Common question from newbie photo editors: “How do I find clients that have a specific style?” The same way those photographers find THEIR clients... After market research in a style niche in the industry you should have a clear image of WHO it is you should create your business for.

Build a website inspired by those ideal clients! Connect with those potential clients on a visual level. “How do I do this if I’m a newbie?” Not to worry! All of this is covered in the Guide with in depth, actionable lessons!

The students that have booked their first clients were newbies too with zero background experience or previous photography experience. ✨

What does COVID-19 mean for photo editors?⁣

Click on the link below to read about what is happening in the wedding photography industry and what this means for those that are interested in becoming photo editors.

https://photoeditorsguide.com/covid19-and-photo-editing

In short: this is temporary, and the wedding industry will recover and heal as soon as weddings resume.⁣

This allows others a few months to learn and build their business before the rush of the busy fall wedding season begins (a season that now has wedding photographers busier than before with the amount of rescheduled spring weddings that moved to fall).⁣

As a full-time photo editor myself, I’ve asked colleagues and my own clients what we all might expect.⁣

Current working photo editors that already have clients are expecting a lull in photo editing this spring, but preparing for a busier late summer/fall/winter wedding season because of the amount of rescheduled spring weddings that moved to a later date.⁣

This means photographers will be overbooked later this year. I am preparing to have longer editing hours and a larger editing workload once weddings resume because of this.⁣

I have even confirmed this with my own clients and other photographers in the industry throughout the world in Facebook groups.⁣

🌎 We are all realizing just how precious “remote work” is.⁣

While I cannot express how grateful I am for having a remote editing business and a queue full of editing work to be done, my heart breaks for those that do not have the privileged luxury of earning an income from home.⁣

It’s times like these that reassure me that I am meant to be doing what I’m doing. I know that I was called to SHARE my knowledge and what I’ve learned in this business so that others are empowered to thrive with their own.⁣

What would it mean for you if you could work from home with a fulfilling business that helps other business owners thrive?⁣

If you focus on creating a meaningful & valuable service that can change the lives of others, business success will come. ✨⁣

👋🏼 The Photo Editor’s Guide is here to serve and help those that truly want to learn how to earn an income from the safety and comfort of home with a meaningful, online business.

I’ve started a few businesses at this point. And it’s true - finding people that are generous with their encouragement and support is hard when you’re growing a solo business.

I’ve gotten it from all angles. Colleagues that have a hard competitive edge and friends that doesn’t understand so they misunderstand sharing small wins as bragging.

On the flip side, I have a village of friends and family that are nothing but my biggest cheerleaders and emotional support.

That is why I created the Guide — this industry is on the newer side and there aren’t many resources out there for people wanting to learn this business! (Aside from the Guide, which is lower than what mentorships cost)

I created a program that gives you the self-paced freedom to learn at your own speed, the technical support and lessons to get you over those hurdles, and an amazing community where I host a “Live” Q+A video chat answering all my students’ questions and giving as much additional value and encouragement as I can.

✨ If you don’t have people like that in your life — you can join us in the Guide, we have a community of over 100+ members that will be there to celebrate all of your wins and be there through your biggest obstacles.

What would your daily or weekly routine be if you worked from home as a photo editor?

Because I edit for primarily wedding photographers, I have a slower season and busier season.

My routines change from season to season, which I love!

Some weeks are 9-5, while others are more like 9-1 for me.

Some mornings are slow, and some days are long.

I love the varying schedule changes! Having a season of more rest and a season of more work really suits me!

What about you?

When I first shared that I was creating this comprehensive program, many people rushed to ask this one influencer (who was known as a photo editor) if editing was hard or profitable.

Turns out, this photo editor did really amazing (but difficult) Photoshop edits for billboards and commercial ads. So, she was honest and shared how hard it is, how long it took to develop her skills, that a single photo could take hours or days to edit, and how scarce the work was.

This is not 🙅🏻‍♀️ the type of photo editing I provide for my clients and not the method I teach in the Guide.

I teach *profitable* photo editing as a service: editing that is FAST and consistent.

These are edits of your everyday wedding or portrait session!

I spend less than 10 seconds editing each photo — that’s what makes it profitable!

Have you ever wondered how there are so many photographers in your city?

Because photo editing is easy and fun to learn if you’re interested in it!

It’s not rocket 🚀 engineering y’all, you can do it!

It will come.

Photo editing isn’t just about the ability to work from home. We provide a service that changes lives.

Outsourcing allows our clients to give a bit of their own freedom back so they can focus on what matters most.

Hiring a photo editor they trust gives them more time and mental energy to focus more on their business, their own clients, their family, their vacation...
