2012 Best Student Organization

The Texas Sweethearts are active members of both the University and the community. Our members volunteer weekly at The BeHive, an after-school program in low-income areas of Austin, as well as work weekly with Feed My People to help feed the homeless. Some of our other service events include Explore UT, Easter Seals Fall Fiesta, Longhorn Halloween, Austin Gorilla Run, Relay for Life and Dream Date. Sweethearts also hosts our own football, basketball, and baseball tailgates and participate in IM sports throughout the semester. Additionally, we strive to build strong, lifelong friendships among our members through our various social events such as an OU weekend trip to Dallas, Parents Weekend, Winter Formal, Crush, Senior Call Boat Party, Date Skate, Spring Cocktail and Alumni Weekend. We also strongly value the importance of sisterhood among the members of our organization.

-We are honored to receive the Swing Out Award for 2010-2011 Best Social Organization by the University of Texas Leadership & Ethics Institute and to be named the 2012 UT Most Best Student Organization by The Daily Texan! This semester’s second Sweetheart of the Week is… ☀️ CATHERINE HENDERSON!!!!

Catherine is a Junior Government and English major from Flower Mound, TX, and a Spring ’26 Sweetie! Her favorite Sweethearts memory is getting dinner with her Big and new fam after Big/Little Reveal! She remembers how fun and natural their conversation felt, and how it was the first time she truly felt like she had a big sister.

Fun fact, Catherine was Miss Sweetie last semester! She is incredibly giving and intentional, and she’s the kind of friend you want by your side until the end of time. 🥳 We love you, Catherine!

Fall ’26’s first Sweetheart of the Week is… 🥁 SYDNEY LOWE!!!!!

Sydney is a Junior Government major from Houston, TX, and a Fall ’25 Sweetie! Her favorite memory during her time as a Texas Sweetheart was spending time with her class during the snow days last semester, when they all got together and made hot chocolate.

Sydney is joy personified, a role model to us all, and the definition of what it means to be a Texas Sweetheart. What would we do without you, Sydney Lowe ?! 💕

We’re wrapping up recruitment with our last event tonight — come join us for a Profit Share at Jo’s Coffee West Campus from 5–7 PM ☕️ All proceeds will benefit our philanthropy, Casa Marianella. As recruitment season comes to an end, Spring ’26, Zaynah Pasha, has a few words for y’all!

“Yayy happy recruiting!! It’s been so so much fun getting to meet all of you guys so far, and I can already feel the exciting and loving energy that you all bring! I know the whole process can feel a little nerve-racking and overwhelming, especially as it starts to come to an end, but try not to put too much pressure on yourself to have everything figured out and just enjoy these last moments getting to know everyone! We are so proud of you guys for everything you’ve done so far, and we hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know us as much as we’ve loved getting to know you. Happy Friday, campers! 🥳⛺️ A week of recruitment has already flown by, and we’ve loved getting to know y’all! Fall ’25 Yasemin Ciftci has some words of wisdom for our recruits 💕

“Hiiii hiii recruits! I can’t wait to meet everyone throughout this recruitment session! 😊🫶🏻
My biggest piece of advice is to try to meet as many people as you can throughout the process, whether it’s actives or fellow recruits! Every active you meet will give you a new perspective on Sweethearts, and anyone you meet could be your future BFF 🤗 The amazing people I met through recruitment are now some of my closest friends, and I can’t wait to see the friendships you guys will form over the next few weeks!”
