This summer, we added a new addition to the Texas Taekwondo Black Belts: Abhi Routray! 🥋

Abhi’s contributions to Texas Taekwondo over the past few years have been innumerable. From athlete, to Marketing Director, to Assistant Poomsae Coach, to now Belt Manager, he’s continued to show up for this team in countless ways. This achievement is incredibly well deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome him to the ranks of Texas Taekwondo Black Belts.

Special thanks to jptyke Belterra TaeKwonDo for hosting the ceremony and continuing to be a second home for the Texas Longhorns. 🤘

Congratulations to Texas Taekwondo Head Coach, Joe Van, on his appointment as Team USA Taekwondo Head Coach for the 2026 FISU America Games! 🎉

Coach Joe will lead a national team of 32 student-athletes from 29 colleges as they represent the US in Lima, Peru, from July 22–27. 🌎

This marks his third international head coaching appointment for the U.S. collegiate program, following the 2023 Summer World University Games in Chengdu, China, and the 2025 Summer World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. 👏

Consistency, hard work, and grit are the name of the game, and our athletes demonstrated that over the Collegiates weekend! Shout out to every athlete who showed up for one another and showed up for themselves. You guys are the true winners! 🏆

2026 NCTA Collegiate Championships Day 1: Poomsae! 🥋✨

We are incredibly proud of every single athlete who stepped onto the mats today. Performing under such a high-pressure environment takes immense grit, and our Poomsae crew handled it with absolute grace and precision. 👏

Securing our 7th consecutive national championship wouldn't have been possible without the strength of our Poomsae program. Medalist or not, every athlete who cheered from the sidelines, left their heart on the mat, and lifted each other up is the reason we succeeded.

You all showed the nation exactly what it means to have Texas Spirit! 🤘🏆🔥

Texas Taekwondo proudly competed at the 2026 NCTA National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships (April 24–26), delivering an outstanding performance on the national stage. 🏆

7th consecutive National Champions.
4 trophies.

🥇 1st Place NCTA 3v3 Team Cup
🏆 Collegiate Traveling Cup

A weekend full of unforgettable moments, the highs, the tears, the laughter, and everything in between. This team showed what it means to compete with heart, discipline, and longhorn pride.

We’re beyond proud of every athlete who stepped on the mat and represented Texas Taekwondo.
