City School

City School A Christ-centered PK-8th grade school that provides a feast of education to a diverse community.

OUR FOUNDING BELIEFS
City School opened its door in 2002 to be a place where children from throughout Austin could learn about God and His truth (all truth) side by side. Here children of painters and attorneys, contractors and professors learn to read and do math, write and draw. They play, pray, and sometimes quarrel – after which they learn to resolve conflict in a way that honors God and one a

nother. It’s a picture of God’s Kingdom at large, a picture created because we believe that a Christ-centered education in a diverse community equips children spiritually, academically, and relationally to be true servant-leaders. We invite you to explore our website, visit our campus, or give us a call to see what we’re doing here at City School.

Supporting a neurodivergent child can come with questions, challenges, and a lot of learning along the way.

On Friday, September 18 from 11 AM–12 PM, join us for a parent presentation with Dr. Lindsay Evans, Licensed Psychologist, as she shares evidence-based insights and practical tools for understanding and supporting neurodivergent children.

And this isn’t just for City School families. All parents and caregivers in our community are welcome, whether you’re newly navigating a diagnosis, have been on this journey for years, or simply want to better understand and support your child.

Yesterday was a lovely day welcoming all our students back to class. Our kinder class felt a little silly, giving tongues and missing teeth portraits.

Our headmaster says the first day is always a reflection of the year to come and if that is true, this will be an amazing year.

Tag us in your back to school photos, we’d love to see them!

Next week our school year will begin.

It’s a fresh start. New and familiar faces. Books waiting to be read. The classrooms slowly coming back to life.

Our teachers and staff have been cleaning, organizing, training, planning, and preparing for the year ahead. And tomorrow, we’re just one week away from welcoming our students back.

We cannot wait! What are you looking forward to this year?

So many papers. Let’s reduce the clutter by using our notes app on the iPhone (or the Google Drive app or camera on android).

It’s easy to scan documents using the scan feature within the notes app. Once scanned, you can re-name, email or share the note and pdf with anyone else who needs the information.

There are so many uses for this feature and we hope it makes back to school a little bit smoother and easier.

Let us know, do you already use this?

Little moments. Lasting impact.

This is what we see during our school days. That little moments have lasting impacts. It’s the conversations on a nature walk. The pages being turned in a well-loved book. The encouragement after a hard task. The conflict resolution between classmates. The laughter with friends. The quiet prayers. The everyday rhythms that often go unnoticed.

These are the moments that shape hearts, cultivate character, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Because an extraordinary education isn’t built on a few big moments. It’s built on thousands of little ones.

Reading. Writing. Math.

Those skills matter.

But the greatest gift we can give our children isn’t to have them read earlier or count higher. It’s building the foundation of a character that shapes who they become.

In our Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms, we cultivate children who are kind, curious, resilient, self-controlled, and eager to serve. Academic skills matter as they learn the beginnings of math, science, reading and humanities, but they flourish best when they’re rooted in strong habits of character.

Because the goal isn’t simply to prepare children for the next grade but to prepare them for a life of purpose. It’s a life of where they learn, they love and they serve.

What do you imagine when thinking about educating your children?

We hope that it leads to more than just grades.

We strive for an education that develops curiosity, compassion, resiliency, and thoughtfulness. Young men and women who love learning, delight in God’s creation, care deeply for people, and have the courage to live faithfully wherever they’re called.
