HIVE is a community springboard focused on supporting artistic curiosity through justice, visibility, and friendship.

HIVE is a collective of women-identified and gender-nonconforming makers in the Austin area. As a collective, we seek to bring experienced, emerging, and first-time artists and educators together to share skills, build professional capacity, and personally connect to build long-lasting collaborations and partnerships. We aim to be a community springboard focused on supporting artistic curiosity th

rough justice, visibility, and friendship. Our workshops are designed to be affordable and offer a range of artistic disciplines to try out, such as embroidery, printmaking, woodworking, theatre, and more.

Perfect for ages 11 and up and 🌸FREE🌸, Intro to Abstract Drawing I and II will give you a chance to play, explore, and make your own abstract works - all with stuff you already have laying around the house!

We are super excited to announce our New Feature Artist Lamya Thompson. They will be hosting two upcoming virtual workshops exploring Abstract Art! ✨

Lamya Thompson is a self-taught q***r Yemeni artist, focusing on abstract artwork and expression. They started drawing in high school and found the abstract magical, accessible, and a tool to connect with others on a deeper level. Lamya finds freedom in abstract drawing and uses it as self-expression that allows the mind to create without limits or rules. Lamya finds inspiration in Yemeni architecture, birds, nature, and people, especially women and their experiences.
