May is zipping by and so is our No Sting Fundraiser! Our jaws dropped last night when we received our largest single donation. An anonymous donor really loves us and @blackshear11th - we are so appreciative of their generous donation. This has been an incredible year - swipe to get a glimpse. Congratulations to our amazing Principal, Ms. Bell - our rock and our leader! @blackshear11th ❤️s you! She was awarded the Darlene Westbrook Leadership Award - part of @austinisd ‘s African American Heritage Celebration. The award recognizes individuals - such as educators, staff or community leaders - who demonstrate exceptional leadership, dedication to community service and a commitment to educational equity and supporting students. Darlene Westbrook was a respected educator and leader who was known for her dedication to developing principles and supporting Austin‘s children and families. Her work was characterized by a “quiet and strong leadership style” that fostered a deep commitment among educators. Also congratulations to Principal Estes at Kealing Middle School, our neighbors - he was awarded the Distinguished Principal Award! #eastaustin is so proud!

The kids had the best time this morning! Thank you @tddtaustin for coming to celebrate the Lunar New Year with @blackshear11th Every year we prepare “hong baos” (red envelopes) with donations to show appreciation to this amazing dance team! Students are invited to feed the lions. This year’s performance was extra special as we’re celebrating 135 years in #eastaustin - we are @austinisd ‘s oldest operating elementary school! 2026 is all about us celebrating! It’s happening! In five days, we’ll be helping @blackshear11th host their 12th Little EAST! Hard to believe our #eastaustin gem of a school has been doing this for over 10 years. You know what else is hard to believe? We’re celebrating our 135th anniversary later this school year! Now, that’s a milestone! Join us this Saturday as we turn our school hallways into gallery walls - we’ll have craft tables, live screen printing, student performances, a Trashion Show, a silent auction and more. Thank you @almostrealthings for letting our little artists be a part of this year’s event! We can’t thank you enough for the support and we can’t wait for Saturday! We’ll be posting a lot more this week. For now, please check out our Silent Auction - we have over 40 amazing packages, baskets and single items. Hi Friends! We're just a few weeks from our annual Little EAST event! SO excited to finally share this year's poster. Thank you to our art teacher, Ms. Lockhart for creating the drawing of our school and to parent and former Little EAST chair, Lucy Begg, for making it come alive in this beautiful poster.

This is our 12th year participating in Austin Studio Tours - we're excited to welcome you to our school! This is a FREE, kid-friendly event - we'll have the following:
-Student artwork
-Student performances
-Live screen printing
-Silent Auction
-Trashion Show with fashion makerspace
-Craft Tables (rock painting, shrinks d***s, button making, comic strip bookmarks, zines, tie dying and more)
-Interactive Art Installation
