Our Story

The Longhorn Stream Team (LST) is student organization at The University of Texas at Austin whose purpose is to train and teach citizen scientists to paddle Texas rivers, collect water quality data, and promote water conservation to ensure the longevity of Texas waterways.

Each fall and spring, Longhorn Stream Team recruits learn how to collect samples in the field and record water quality data that supports conservation efforts and academic research supported by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Each semester, the team paddles four Texas rivers, collecting data and contributing it to the data set maintained by the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment for the last 23 years.

Above all, LST is committed to making a difference while having a blast, all in the name of science.
