At Austin Public Schools, our mission is to inspire, empower, and accelerate every one of our learners, and we know that the only way for us to reach this goal is through the efforts of all our incredibly hard-working staff.

In this week’s Staff Spotlight, we’re highlighting Southgate Elementary School kindergarten teacher Erin Schumacher.

"Mrs. Schumacher is an incredible teacher. She is so caring and goes above and beyond to make sure that her students feel comfortable and are supported in her classroom, while also pushing them to do their best work. Thank you for creating a love of learning for our kindergarteners!"

Congratulations!

If you’d like to nominate an outstanding Austin Public Schools staff member for our weekly Staff Spotlight, please take a moment to fill out the form at https://www.austin.k12.mn.us/district-resources/aps-staff-spotlight. It only takes a minute and can truly make someone’s day. Thanks!

Today is National Instructional Coach day and we wanted to take a moment to thank our amazing Instructional Coaches for their hard work and dedication to our students.

Every day, our coaches help teachers refine strategies, implement curriculum, and try out new and innovative approaches in the classroom. Their amazing efforts help build a stronger and more effective educational environment for our students and staff.

So, if you see an Instructional Coach today, be sure to thank them for all they do to support our students, teachers, and classrooms.

Investing in Our Schools & Community

Since 2023, the District has been studying the long-term needs of our school buildings. Experts assessed each school to identify the most important needs for safe, modern, and effective student learning environments.

Together, we can help build strong schools for our students and our community.

The annual Elementary Walkathon is coming up this Wednesday, October 7, and you can help make a difference in students' lives. The money raised from this event benefits all four Austin elementary schools and will help fund many student activities including Family enrichment nights, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) celebrations, outdoor learning, spirit wear and much more! This year's goal is to raise $40,000 for the 1700 elementary kids in our district.
