ITE & ITS Student Chapters at the University of Texas at Austin

End of semester potluck was great! Lots of fun, food, and good vibes 🧡🤘🏻

Earlier this week we celebrated National Walk and Bike to School Day at Russell Lee Elementary near UT. We had a lot of fun interacting with the students and encouraging active transportation!

We celebrated yesterday with our first football tailgate of the season, followed by cheering on our Longhorns to a great win! Hook ‘em Horns!

We’ve spent the last week welcoming the new graduate students to our program. Looking forward to what this new semester will bring!

We were visited this week by Dr. Taylor Lochrane from the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Operation and Research Development. He spoke about the research going on at FHWA dealing with Cooperative Automated Driving Systems and automated vehicle platooning. His talk was very interesting and a great break from TRB paper prep and other summer work!

We had a great time escaping the heat for a little while and celebrating the end of the week at Austin Panic Room escape rooms! Everyone got out with time to spare!

This past week some of our members traveled to Keystone, Colorado to represent UT at the Joint Western & Texas District ITE Meeting. They had a great time meeting other students and professionals, attending sessions and panels, competing in the Texas District Traffic Bowl competition, and escaping the Texas heat to enjoy some cool mountain air!

This was the first week for the undergraduate students who will be working as UTC Interns for the summer. We welcomed them by playing some mini golf at Peter Pan, an Austin staple! Looking forward to a great summer of work and activities!

Last week we partnered with the Capital Area Chapter of TexITE to host a talk by Jen Duthie, who heads up the Arterial Management Division for the City of Austin Transportation Department. It was a great opportunity to hear about all of the city's transportation activities and to network with many other area professionals. Additionally, two of our students received scholarships from CAS-ITE to attend the joint Western & Texas District ITE Meeting this summer in Keystone, Colorado!

Some of our members formed a team for the Longhorn Run this past weekend. We had a great time joining in this campus tradition!

We've loved getting out on the Intramural Fields this spring and playing some soccer! Congrats to our team for winning their first playoff game this past weekend! Keep it up, y'all!

We had a great time at the STEM Festival this past weekend! We got to talk about what transportation engineers do and play The Traffic Jam Game with so many bright young thinkers. We're already looking forward to next year!
