CLARITY COMES BEFORE MOTIVATION
Motivation isn't the first step. Clarity is.
A lot of advice has this backwards. It tells you to get fired up, find your energy, wake up excited - about something you haven't actually named yet. That's asking enthusiasm to show up for an appointment with no address.
The order that tends to work is duller than you might think, and more reliable: name the thing, then narrow it, then act on it. Motivation shows up later, usually once you can see where you're going.
One practical piece of that, free of charge: when you make the list, stop at five. Not fifty. You can't aim at fifty things, and a list of fifty is really just a longer way of saying "I don't know."
Five is small enough to be uncomfortable, which is how you know it's honest.
