Mental health awareness

Many athletes tend to suffer with mental health issues. Performance pressure, student-athlete stress, constantly working without taking breaks for your body to relax, and many more. It’s okay to take time and relax/recover and make sure your not overdoing it.

- it’s okay to speak up

Learn about Coach Tyler!

Tyler Pierce is a senior student-athlete at UMHB, majoring in psychology. She played for Centex SC, Austin Texans, and Lonestar FC (Austin, ECNL). She graduated from Salado High School, playing varsity each year, making it as far as State, and received numerous awards through UIL. She had 42 collegiate offers between her sophomore and senior years of high school, taking an offer from Sam Houston State University her junior year. She also played internationally with Forza Campiones, playing semi-professional and professional teams in Amsterdam and Germany, and received offers from some of those teams to train and play.

Her mission is to help athletes develop skills that separate them from the rest and to give insight + help with the recruiting process. She also emphasizes the psychological importance of soccer, as it is an instrumental role in bettering oneself in the game.

“The game of soccer isn’t just about putting on your cleats and playing whistle to whistle. It’s about understanding the several aspects that go into the game. The mental, physical, emotional aspects. We want to help players gain respect for the game, and to also gain respect for themselves. It doesn’t matter how good a player can be if their mind isn’t in tune with their body. It is unbelievably amazing how a player can achieve so much more with a correct mindset.”

-Be coachable, open minded, and willing to learn, you never know what you can learn just by watching the athletes around you-
