Poet Joanna Fuhrman, an alumna of the UT Plan II Honors Program, will visit Austin this week as part of her book tour. She'll be on campus Tuesday to speak with current students, and she'll be giving a public reading Saturday outside Reverie Books.

Congratulations to Reginald Dwayne Betts, one of the new MacArthur Fellows announced today. Dwayne visited the Joynes Room in 2019 for a luncheon with students, during a conference on prison abolition at UT's School of Law.

Natalie Diaz has twice visited the Joynes Reading Room--she's pictured here in 2017 reading from her first book, WHEN MY BROTHER WAS AN AZTEK. She also visited in 2019 for a Q&A roundtable discussion with the Joynes Living & Learning Community, where she previewed poems from her second book, POSTCOLONIAL LOVE POEM, which was recognized today by the Putlizer Board.
