The gentlemen of Kappa Alpha Order recently made a donation and are taking a public stand with PACT, Partners Against Child Trafficking. The non-profit organization is committed to helping stop child trafficking, and seeks to accomplish so at the University of Texas at Austin through supporting students with access to online prevention training published by PACT. Our chapter feels that it is our duty as a UT organization to forward the cause of PACT and do our part to bring an end to child trafficking.

Quick fall 21 update!

11/11/2021

Texas KA alumni and friends,

We wanted to reach out and invite you to this weekend's tailgate against Kansas starting at 3pm! This will be the last home game of the year and we were finally given a game at night! For all alumni in town and available this coming weekend, please stop by the manor and grab a few drinks. We are excited to announce that we will be presenting a track chair to a wounded veteran during this event, a testament to our fantastic philanthropy efforts. Kyle Malin's bio is given below:

SSG Kyle Malin Served in the U.S. Army from 2002 - 2012 as a Cannon Crew Member in the 101st Airborne Division. He completed three tours in Iraq before being deployed to Combat Outpost Nolen in Afghanistan as part of an effort to disrupt Taliban supply lines in Kandahar Province, home to some of the most intense fighting of the war by the summer of 2010. On July 12 2010, while conducting a routine patrol in the Arghandab River Valley of Afghanistan, Kyle stepped on an IED which resulted in Bi Lateral amputations of both legs above the knee. SSG Malin is an avid outdoorsman and the gift of an all-terrain track chair will give him the independence and freedom to continue his endeavors in shooting, hunting, and hiking with his family.

The gentlemen at the Omicron Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order have committed to raising $20,000 in order to fully fund a top of the line Track Chair for a wounded veteran. These chairs provide the opportunity for our wounded heroes to reclaim the independence that they lost while serving our great nation. Our chapter feels as though it is our duty to give back to our vets.

The Independence Fund’s Track Chairs are able to traverse all terrains, including sand, mud, and even stairs. Veterans who receive a Track Chair are able once again enjoy their old hobbies in the outdoors. Please consider supporting our cause by donating to this fund. We greatly appreciate donations of any amount.

Over Christmas break, Omicron has completed more projects to restore the manor. The entire house was repainted in its iconic grey color. Our security systems were significantly improved, with many new cameras placed across the property and fingerprint scanners installed on doors to ensure only active members can enter the property. Other existing infrastructure was also repaired, such as fixing the party room’s broken doors.

The final two pictures in this post show the house before it was painted. What a difference! Big thanks to all our alums and parents who have contributed their money and time to help improve the house. We can’t wait to show you the improvements that will soon occur in the spring!

This summer, Omicron has been hard at work renovating the manor! Funds raised by Omicron alumni have allowed us to continue renovating the interior of the manor while also placing more emphasis on exterior landscaping. While our generous alumni have handled almost all renovations, the active brothers of Omicron personally repainted the entire exterior wall bordering the lot on 2515 Leon St. See attached pictures!

Omicron also welcomes our new house parent, Jeff Hoskins. Most recently, Jeff managed a large ranch property which will be especially helpful in maintaining our beautiful yard. We look forward to continue updating our parents and alumni on the progress of the manor!
