Have you heard of the Junior Classical League?

Twice a month, Wilson Hill Latin and Greek students in grades 7-12 meet for games and activities built around the classics. JCL is a club rather than a course, so there are no assignments and no tests. Student-elected officers and faculty plan the activities together.

Members can take the National Latin Exam or National Greek Exam, the National Classical Etymology Exam, and the National Latin Vocabulary Exam at no additional cost.

“There’s this stereotype that all homeschoolers do is stay at home and have no friends, but Wilson Hill really beats that stereotype. I’m part of JCL. Every couple of weeks, we get together, play games, talk about classical languages, and have a lot of fun. I’ve made so many friendships here, and those friendships are going to last past Wilson Hill, and I’m really grateful for that, " Isaac G., Class of 2026, said.

Have you heard of the House System at Wilson Hill?

Beginning in seventh grade, students join one of four Houses named for Christian writers: St. Augustine, Jane Austen, C.S. Lewis, or Flannery O’Connor.

When a family first considers an online school, one of the biggest questions is often friendship. Students in the same building may run into one another between classes, but since Wilson Hill students are spread across the world, time together is highly intentional—and the House System is where much of it happens.

The Houses gather formally six times a year for competitions, games, and devotionals, and the community continues in between. O’Connor House produces a weekly video series, while the other three Houses publish newspapers. Each House is guided by a faculty adviser and two student leaders who organize activities and lead meetings.

A student who joins the newspaper staff in ninth grade spends time each week with the same classmates outside of class, working together on a shared publication. We designed our House System to cultivate deep friendships, and many of them continue for years.

Most parents picture an online class as a lecture a student watches alone.

Because every Wilson Hill class meets live online with webcams on, ours instead works like a room. Students debate in Socratic discussion, solve problems together on a shared whiteboard, and run real experiments at their own kitchen tables while a teacher watches and responds.

Online education is not something to compensate for. It is how we bring master teachers from across the country into the same room as your child.

There is one course your student can only take at Wilson Hill.

Meet FORP, our Fundamentals of Research and Presentation course. It is a Wilson Hill original, designed by us and offered nowhere else.

FORP is where eighth graders, along with mature seventh graders, learn to research well and present with confidence. Over the year, they find and weigh quality sources, organize their thinking, and present their work, building both oral and visual presentation skills. Using state history as their subject, students explore geography, notable figures, and the American story along the way.

As a pre-rhetoric course, FORP lays the groundwork for the rhetoric-level work ahead, including Senior Thesis. Because it is uniquely ours, it is designed to prepare students directly for that next stage.

This student’s finished project shows what that preparation can produce. Congratulations!

When you first research homeschooling, the philosophies can be hard to tell apart. Each comes with volumes on its finer points. You may set aside plenty of time and still find it overwhelming.
