Making some progress thanks to this amazing community of people. I want to make one things explicitly clear, hearing this entire time, the only thing we have seen from the government was two chinook helicopters land over by our local school to drop off god knows what… then proceeded to fly away and not be seen again. Nor any boots on the ground. So ALL of the work, all of the repairs, all of the support, all of the organizing has come from the local community and those outside who have been coming in with their own machinery and supplies. This begs the question…WTF is this and in most cases ANY government good for? It only serves to enable and empower the lowest life forms in positions of power. This is dress rehearsal for us. We know we can make it through intense tragedy…how about YOU? Because it’s only a matter of time until it’s at your door. We know who our community is and what they can do. Do you? I highly recommend getting your house in order…many here have not and now it’s left them hungry, homeless, penniless…etc. Because when s**t like this goes down your community is everything.

In case you missed the memo. Mosaic Mountain Village has been pretty much destroyed. All of our work over the past year, washed away. The region in general looks like a war zone. And even though we've lost so much I consider out situation fortunate to hose who still occupy the urban areas where fresh water, power and food are still in short supply. Our little tribe is safe and our area Barnardsville just outside of Asheville is a great group of helpful folks many of whom live as if this was immanent situation either by intent or "natural" circumstances. Meaning....lots of "prepper" folks. Which is one big reason WHY we picked this area. We have farms, ranchers, spring water, wild game and lots of the other resources many folks don't. But...Our property is trashed. We've easily lost over a 100k is infrastructure investment NOT including labor hours. We would be deeply grateful if you have the means to donate to help us build back in a more resilient and empowered way so that if anything like this ever happens again we have the means to weather it in a way that offers refuge to others less fortunate. If you cannot donate please share and share out story. This has been our dream for over a decade, we had JUST begun to get things in flow, serving our guests, building our community, hosting gatherings, beginning the farm and then this. Wow! What a ride! Sending ya'll big love from the trenches.

Hey ya'll! I'm hosting the monthly open mic at JuneBug Asheville tomorrow night 5-8pm
If you play an instrument, have some songs you want to sing, come on down and show us what ya got. They've got beer, cider & wine, a food truck servin up some viddles, lawn games, hammocks that hang over the creek, it's a whole thing! And always a good time! Hope to see you there. Oh and I'll be opening for Tyler Ramsey from Band of Horses August 10th. So definitely come to that! It'll be a good one!

Most of ya'll dont know I was a professional musicain for about 20 years. I put out 2 albums before streaming was a thing. Pretty much didn't bother once it came online because I was off to other things, like films and travels and such. But once my our son Miles was born I felt the call to give him access to a musical household. So I picked it back up slowly but surely. I have so much music in the wings but it's challenging to do that AND start up a community that is also a functional business engine for the family. Solo artists, meaning those are aren't actually taking responsibilty for something larger than themselves can move fast and quick. I used to be that. Only concerned really for my self. But as the years roll on and I have chosen to take on the mantle of leading a project as big as MMV I'm also more aware of how important it is to nurture on'es own deeply personal creative inspirations. This WHOLE THING is inspirational; the new music that is arriving from all of this movement. the land, the vision of Mosaic Mountain Village and what we're creating here that will last far longer and have far more of an impact than one person can have. Unless you're David Bowie. 🙂
