The Texas School for the Deaf Foundation (TSDF) supports students at the Texas School for the Deaf by funding programs and resources that help them learn, grow, and belong. In 2000, Texas School for the Deaf Foundation (TSDF) was founded by a small group of dedicated individuals who wanted to enrich the programming made available to the children and families served by the Texas School for the Deaf

. The goal was to augment TSD’s already excellent curriculum by providing new educational opportunities and resources that would deepen the language skills and broaden the possibilities for the deaf population of Texas. ‘

Today, TSDF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a volunteer board of directors that sets the direction for the organization and monitors financial and operational performance. Our board is a cross-section of citizens who serve as TSDF’s ambassadors to other agencies, funders, prospective donors and the general community with the goal of supporting Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) and its statewide partners in education.

Funding in Action: Sky Rangers Drone Team 🚁

With Texas School for the Deaf Foundation's grant support, TSD Middle School students had the opportunity to build skills, travel as a team, and compete as part of the Sky Rangers TSD Drone Team.

Through this experience, students practiced coding, problem-solving, teamwork, mechanical repair, and staying calm under pressure — all while discovering how science and math connect to real-world technology.

The impact went beyond the competition. Students gained confidence, pride, leadership, and a stronger sense of belonging in STEM spaces.

Funding in Action: Early Learning + Family Field Trips 🎒

Learning starts early and grows through real-world experiences.

Through Texas School for the Deaf Foundation's grant support, toddlers and families participated in monthly field trips that brought classroom learning to life. From animals and plants to seasons, textures, movement, and everyday conversation, each experience helped students build vocabulary, sign language skills, curiosity, and confidence.

Families were part of the learning, too — practicing language strategies they could continue using at home.

That’s what support makes possible: early learning, family connection, and meaningful experiences that help students learn, grow, and belong.

In loving memory of Kaylee Hottle.

Kaylee’s impact reached far beyond the screen and far beyond Texas. In her life and work, she reminded the world that being Deaf is not a limitation, and that Deaf children deserve to see themselves represented with truth, language, culture, and possibility.

Her words continue to carry a powerful message: “…there are no limits.”

Texas School for the Deaf Foundation joins the Texas School for the Deaf community in honoring Kaylee’s life, legacy, and the dream she shared with Deaf children everywhere.

Our hearts are with Kaylee’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who loved her.

Future-ready skills are built one challenge at a time. 🤖

Last season, Texas School for the Deaf's First Tech Challenge team put engineering, strategy, and resilience into action across a full competition season.

Students played 30 matches, earned a 70% win rate, advanced through league play, and finished in the top third at the TAPPS Championship — all while continuing to test, troubleshoot, and improve their robot along the way.

The team also earned judged awards recognizing strong design and innovation, including the Design Award and 2nd Place Innovate Award.

With support from Texas School for the Deaf Foundation, students gained hands-on experience in engineering design, programming, teamwork, problem-solving, and staying focused under competition pressure.

That’s what opportunity looks like in action. 💛
