Check out this really cool opportunity from SASI!
"There are still spots available for the Black Austin Tour this Saturday, December 5 at 2pm.
Black Austin Tours, founded by UT PhD student Javier Wallace, immerse participants in the city's history, tying events from the past to today, and highlighting Black historical figures who have lived in Austin. The tour runs for approximately 1.5 hours. The iSchool's Diversity & Inclusion committee will be able to pay for 20 student slots (this is a really great deal, and we want to thank the committee for their collaboration with this event). These slots will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, so email [email protected] to reserve yours! We will respond back to confirm your RSVP. Reserving your spot means that you are committing to attending, but we will have a waitlist, and hope to be able to offer this tour again. We ask that you RSVP no later than tomorrow, Tuesday, December 1 at 12pm."
Please RSVP and join your fellow students on a really amazing tour to learn more about Austin's Black history!

iSchool friends, past, present, and future:
ALA/TLA, SAA-UT, and SASI will be meeting with the iSchool administration next week to discuss a list of demands crafted with the intention of furthering a culture of anti-racism in our department. Those demands can be found here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ucP6DehuxRRJTaAu73lWku2EFFooQ2QQxNo_QL3g8SE/edit?usp=sharing
We'd love to have your support -- named or anonymous, whether a current student, staff/faculty member, or alum -- as we continue to push for curricular, cultural, and systemic change here at the iSchool. And, if you'd like to stay engaged in these conversations or have any feedback as we continue to organize and implement change, we'd love to hear that, too.
In solidarity,
Your ALA/TLA Co-Directors
