For tomorrow's Old Testament final exam (the only question on Malachi that I will ask): One of Malachi’s most important passages tells us about the forerunner, the Elijah figure, who will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children before “that great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which is the arrival of the Messiah. The answer is True.

Test Question for Thursday's test: Why were prophets needed? A) The people were straying from the covenant, B) To help Israel's economy, C) To draw the attention to spectacular predictions, D) To provide for a transition to the next king. The correct answer is (A). Since the people of Israel were straying from the covenant, the prophets called them to repentance.

Today's test is graded. Scores in the next class, or stop by my office before then if you want to know.

The new semester starts Wednesday, January 6, with the first Old Testament class on Thursday. I'll see some of you then.

Test question for Old Testament on Tuesday: True or False--Jesus gave testimony to the threefold division of the Old Testament into the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms (or Writings). The answer is True.

Last week of class, a few more books of the Old Testament, then the final exam. Be reading the textbook. I'm not going to cover 1 & 2 Chronicles, but I will test on those books by way of the textbook.

For tomorrow's (Thursday, October 15) test: Typology is an understanding of the Old and New Testaments that shows the correspondence between the two testaments and the greater importance of the Savior Jesus Christ. The answer is true.
