For tomorrow's Old Testament final exam (the only question on Malachi that I will ask): One of Malachi’s most important passages tells us about the forerunner, the Elijah figure, who will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children before “that great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which is the arrival of the Messiah. The answer is True.

Test Question for Thursday's test: Why were prophets needed? A) The people were straying from the covenant, B) To help Israel's economy, C) To draw the attention to spectacular predictions, D) To provide for a transition to the next king. The correct answer is (A). Since the people of Israel were straying from the covenant, the prophets called them to repentance.
