The Sigma Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu (Sammy) was founded at the University of Texas on October 22, 1922. Since that day, we have established ourselves as a strong member of the UT Intrafraternity Council (IFC) and continue to make our presence known on campus. Every year, the members of Sigma Alpha Mu welcome friends, other UT students, and potential new members to events at the Sammy house.

We lost Marty Levinson (PC ‘85) exactly 6 years ago this week due to cancer (FEB 12). He was a Texas Sammy Advisor for 22 years 1998-2020. If you had ever met Marty, then you would know what an incredible man, father, son, uncle, cousin, coach, referee, and good friend he was to everyone. Texas Sammy raised about $50,000 in 2020/2021 to ENDOW A SAMMY SCHOLARSHIP in Marty’s memory, which surpassed all our goals. May Marty’s memory be a blessing. Hook ‘em! 🤘

Today, Exactly 8 years ago, Leon “Daddy” Washington passed away. (1921-2017)
What a wonderful life of 96 years. “Daddy” worked for Texas Sigma Alpha Mu “Sammy” for 55 years. He was the heart and soul of the fraternity for multiple generations. Daddy was our father figure we (most of us) would see every day during our college years. He was loved by everyone. He is missed by 1000’s of “Sammy” fraternity alumni during those 55 years.
