Texas AFL-CIO

Texas AFL-CIO We’re the state labor federation representing 250,000+ union members. We fight for all Texas workers! We work the early shift and the late shift.

We are teachers, firefighters and farm workers, actors and engineers, pilots and public employees, painters and plumbers, steelworkers and screenwriters, doctors and nurses, stagehands, electricians and more. We are the unemployed, students and retirees. We believe that people who work make Texas work and that together, we are better.

These 16 Texas candidates were union members before ever running for office. 💪

Union-first candidates are changing the face of Texas politics, all while trust in unions is far greater than any political party. We’re the future of this state!

We can take back our state. ✊

For too long, billionaires and the corrupt politicians that serve them have called the shots in Texas. The power belongs to the people who keep the state running.

Join us for Texas Labor Votes 2026 statewide kickoff meeting! It’s going to take all of us to elect pro-worker candidates across the Lone Star State.

We need Texas leaders who know how to fight. Our pro-labor candidates have proven to us that they have the backs of working people, not big corporations. Join us as we kick off our 2026 program, highlight our union-first candidates, take on corrupt politicians, and build the path to victory on Nov. 3!

Vote , vote pro-worker! It’s my union, my right, my vote!

On the 63rd anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, America’s unions are committed to continuing Dr. King’s mission—fight for fair wages, equal rights and dignity. Civil and labor rights are inseparable, and we’ll keep fighting to secure those rights for all.

✊ TEXAS UNION WIN: After two years of hard-fought organizing, dancers at the Dallas Black Dance Theatre won a historic first union contract!

“We have never forgotten the former DBDT dancers who organized their workplace and stood together during an extraordinarily difficult chapter in the company’s history. Their efforts helped make this agreement possible.”

The historic contract provides meaningful protections for today’s dancers and strengthens the company for the future. That’s the union difference.
