McNair Scholar, Janiece Jefferson, has accepted a fellowship with The Chesapeake Student Recruitment,
Early Advisement, and Mentoring Program (C-StREAM). She will be with the Potomac Environmental Research and Education Center at George Mason University in Woodbridge, Virginia assisting in on-going research of the cHAB (cyanobacterial Harmful Algal Bloom) organism Microseira wollei which is prominent in tidal freshwater areas of the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River. Congratulations, Janiece!!

Help us give a big congratulations to SEU Alumni Christopher Azaldegui, who defended their dissertation—Mechanisms of Subcellular Organization in Bacteria—at the University of Michigan! Christopher graduated from St. Edward's in 2019 and will be the 31st PhD conferred as part of the SEU McNair Scholars program alumni.

The McNair Scholars Program wants to give a big congratulations to our scholar, Diogo Ledesma, who was accepted into the Spring Department of Energy Office of Science National Renewable Energy Laboratory Internship! He will be a part of a project that will study the interface of C**s with CoPc molecules, using optical spectroscopy as the primary characterization tool.

Our scholar, Jackeline Guajardo, had the incredible honor of interviewing former Texas Senator Gonzalo Barrientos about his life, career, and legacy. This interview is part of her ongoing Chicano Oral History project, which seeks to highlight the experiences of the Chicano community and their efforts to address challenges while amplifying their visibility and contributions to American culture. We want to extend an appreciative thank you to Senator Barrientos for his time and effort!
