A couple of months ago, our students were learning about Black History Month. Teaching this topic in preschool is crucial for fostering empathy, diversity awareness, and inclusion from an early age. It helps combat stereotypes before they take root by introducing positive representations of Black historical figures and culture.

Today at IDEAS Spanish Immersion Preschool , we celebrated Children’s Week with a fun “Crazy Hats” day!

The children enjoyed creative activities like collaborative art on musical chairs, and coordination games using balls.

It was a joyful day full of laughter, teamwork, and imagination!

Celebrating Children’s Day with “crazy shirts” is valuable from an educational perspective because it encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence while allowing children to make choices and take ownership of their work. Designing their shirts supports fine motor skills, problem-solving, and early planning as they select materials, colors, and patterns. This hands-on activity also promotes social-emotional development by fostering collaboration, communication, and a sense of belonging within the classroom. In addition, it creates meaningful connections between school and home, strengthens family engagement during the creation process, and provides an opportunity to celebrate childhood through joyful, purposeful learning experiences.

STEM activities are hands-on learning experiences that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to solve problems, foster creativity, and encourage critical thinking. These experiences help develop important skills such as resourcefulness, patience, and curiosity.

At IDEAS, egg hunts can be transformed into engaging learning experiences by incorporating academic, motor, and cognitive challenges, such as color-coded searches, letter recognition, and name identification. These activities help boost gross motor skills through active searching and fine motor skills as children open the eggs, making them a meaningful and educational experience.
