I usually keep it to the fun stuff but our tagline for Stitchology is “How Handmade Is Done”. I’ve made some wonderful gifts like this and the stories will rock your soul. This one in particular struck me as a true story of legacy. So remember that every stitch, bead, thread, etc. will mean something to the people who use it or buy it.

Good afternoon, Makers! Thought I would remind you that we are headed into Thanksgiving/Christmas preparation season! For those of you who Make for a living, you will want to start designing and plan out the inventory you want to carry. If you are making gifts, time to get going.

I recommend that this month, everyone focus on the following list.
1. What are you making?
2. Who are you making it for?
3. How many of them are you making?
4. How different do they have to be?
5. Also, a great time to buy your "Handmade with Love Labels".

LABELS: There are a lot of ways to do this. I'll tell you my cheat is to use inkjet fabric. I draw my design (very lightly - grey and thin) and the message, print it, and then I go in and hand stitch it with decorative stitches. I take the whole fabric piece with me so I can work on it whenever I have some downtime.

There is nothing more exciting than getting surprises in the mail. I ordered “Alice in Wonderland” by Paper Rifle. Also, I found some fabric for backing at $5 a yard. Quality navy cotton with little white flowers. Perfect for a busy quilt top. I have lots of white on white, grey and black, now I need to add some other colors: navy, turquoise, pink, red, and plum.

Laundry Basket Quilts is one of my favorite shops and designers. She’s so pleasant and extremely creative! I highly suggest you look at her work! This house pattern may be my next project.
