German International School of Texas

German International School of Texas German International School of Texas at Austin Pre-K Each student is recognized as an individual, each with their own personal interests and proclivities.

Supported by the research-backed principles of early education in the US and Germany and through collaborative effort of the entire preschool community, it is our goal to provide students with the fundamental skills needed for their first steps into formal education. We promote a positive view of learning, curiosity, critical questioning, and a world-view that is broad and tolerant. It is the primary goal of teachers at the German International School of Texas at Austin to observe, guide, and facilitate student' social interactions and other explorations of the physical and social world around them, as well as to create an environment that is welcoming and inspiring. Teachers offer the tools and guidance needed for the development of self-responsibility and confidence to become a co-creator with the human community, small and large.

🇩🇪 Learning German Starts Early at GIS!

Circle time with Frau Meike and our Pre-K class!

Songs, stories, movement, conversation, and plenty of smiles all while experiencing German as a natural part of the school day.

At the German International School of Texas, language learning isn't just another subject. Our students hear it, speak it, sing it, and experience it every day.

That's what German immersion looks like from toddler, Pre-K through 5th grade.

Learn. Play. Grow. Auf Deutsch!

A Great Start to the 2026–2027 School Year! 🇩🇪 Schulanfang!

German International School of Texas (GIS)is back in action!

From our toddlers all the way through 4th grade, our students and teachers spent the first days getting back into the groove, reconnecting with friends, settling into their classrooms, and getting ready for a great year ahead.

And we’re just getting started! Our Samstagsschule (Saturday School) classes for children begin this week in Austin and San Antonio, bringing German language and culture to even more young learners across Central Texas. https://www.germantexans.org/samstagsschule

We’re excited to see our students learn, grow, and experience German language and culture throughout the year.
Here’s to a fantastic 2026–2027 school year!

Hearing our toddler class sing at the German International School of Texas powered by German-Texan Heritage Society is truly something special ❤️🇩🇪

What a joy it is to watch the next generation learning, singing, and embracing the German language and culture deep in the heart of Texas. Moments like these remind us why preserving language, heritage, and community matters for future generations.
