Hi everyone! We know we have been MIA at BQTC, but we’re starting back up with this project!
We have partnered with the Longhorn Wellness Center (LWC) to connect with Black individuals on campus to discuss Black-specific event programming concerning mental health. The main goal of these interviews is to connect with Black UT affiliates to understand shared needs across Black organizations, and how those needs can be met with the help of the Longhorn Wellness Center.
We highly encourage anyone connected to Black UT programming to reach out via DM or our email, [email protected] to receive more information on this project and/or set up an interview time.

What does solidarity look like between Black and Asian communities? What are some ways gender or class position could impact Asian/Black solidarity? How can people make solidarity part of their daily practice and intentions?
Join us for our Black and Asian Solidarity Event next Thursday, April 14th at 6pm in the Multicultural Engagement Center for a panel diving into these questions and more. We will reflect on the ways in which we can build solidarity between Black and Asian folks on and off campus, through complex yet necessary conversations. There will be opportunities for discussion spaces for folks to talk about how holding marginalized identities (i.e. LGBTQIA+) intersects with their experiences of building solidarity, opportunities to ask panelists about their strategies, and small group discussions.
This is event is cosponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Center's Lotus Project, Black Q***r and Trans Collective, and the Center for Asian American Studies.
Image Description: On a cream background, text reads: Black and Asian Solidarity Event. Multicultural Engagement Center WCP 1.102. April 14th 6-7:30pm. At the top includes the logo for the John L. Hey y’all! We hope your Fall semester has been off to a good start. Are you looking for a community of Black, Q***r, Non-Binary, & Trans students & staff? Well, look no further.
The Black Q***r & Trans Collective is working hard to plan this semesters first meeting, and if you’re a part of our listerv, you should have received a couple of emails that ask about your availability and meeting preferences (in person, online, hybrid, etc).
We are still trying to gather results from everyone in terms of meeting logistics, but our first meeting is projected to be held sometime between the middle and end of this month. As soon as we have gathered all necessary information, we will make another social media post and send out meeting reminders via our listerv.
In the meantime, please contact BQTC at [email protected] if you any questions!
