We don't believe in homework.
We use proprietary research-based methodologies for in-school learning reinforcement in lieu of homework assignments, as most homework has been proven ineffective for young children. We call this time Playlist Time.
New knowledge moves to long-term memory when practiced. Playlist Time engages students, reinforcing learning while giving them autonomy and allowing teachers to provide the attention students need to thrive.
During Playlist Time, students receive instruction before practicing independently. They work from a list of required activities in a quiet environment, either alone, in pairs, or in small groups, to master knowledge and skills.
Most Playlist activities are game-like. In addition to being engaging, students are more likely to practice repetitively within play.

***What is Mastery Based Learning?***
Students work towards mastering an objective or skill, standard or benchmark, at their own pace. Rather than teaching to the middle, like in traditional schools- boring the accelerated students and confusing the students who need a little more help, Tamim works with each student individually, assessing their needs and giving them the attention they need to thrive.

Teachers closely monitor student progress, adjusting learning activities as needed. During this process, teachers are assessing a student's learning and acquisition of knowledge, utilizing an ongoing process of assessment rather than and end of the unit exam. This allows students to demonstrate their progress towards mastery in multiple ways rather than testing like in traditional schools.

Through this process, students are able to acquire self-discipline and time management skills. Unlike traditional school environments where teachers control everything, students are given the chance to take responsibility for their learning and take pride in their progress.

Our progress report system reflects our methods, describing how students are progressing towards competencies rather than giving grades that describe the percentage of "taught skills and knowledge" that they have learned (or haven't).
